Nature of the Job:
CKDU FM has been awarded an internship from the Halifax Regional Community Access Program Association to coordinate a Youth Radio Journalism Project, where project participants will receive instruction in radio broadcasting and conduct a series of radio interviews on a theme related to “active lifestyle, technology and the internet.” The Intern will oversee all aspects of the Youth Radio Journalism Project from recruiting, training and coordinating project participants to editing and producing the finished interviews.
This is a part-time, 20 hour per week youth (aged 15-30) internship paid by the Halifax Regional Community Access Program Association at a rate of $9 per hour. The term of this internship is twelve (12) weeks, ending in March 2008. Applicants must be currently enrolled as a student or have previously taken one (1) course at a post-secondary institution.
Applicable Skills:
Demonstrated ability coordinating youth is essential. Other assets include experience in radio journalism, interviewing, digital audio workstations, field recording equipment; working within a non-profit organization; and an interest in “active lifestyle, technology and the internet.” Although it is not a requirement for the position, applicants are encouraged to note any experience working with community or audio projects, or community radio. The candidate must be able to work independently and be goal oriented. Candidates for the internship are encouraged to familiarize themselves with CKDU FM's mandate.
