CONTRACT POSITIONS AT CKDU

here are two exciting contracts upcoming at CKDU:

2008 Holiday Elf Contract


This contract is only available to CKDU members and has compensation of $1000. The contract requires the following tasks to be completed:

Making contact with all programmers to check on the status of their show over the holidays and instruct them on after hours building/station entry
Taking directives from the Program Director on finding fill-ins and alternative programming during the Holiday break.
Acting as the “on call” person for programming and technical emergencies between 7am on December 13 & 2am on January 5. (Staff will be on secondary call, in case there is an emergency that requires their assistance as well.)

Those interested in undertaking this position must:

be a fully trained, active member of CKDU with an up-to-date membership
be a capable on-air host
have technical prowess and knowledge of the equipment & computer system
have an understanding of all of CKDU's rules, regulations and policy
be willing and able to answer their phone at all times of the day and night
be available for the week of December 8-12 for training with Pierre and other staff
be available (if necessary) to come into the station on the actual holidays (Dec 24, 25 & 26 for example)
have solid people skills

Any interested parties must be easily available in Halifax during the entire Holiday break (December 15 – January 5) and must not have any out of town commitments during the contract period. They must also devote some time toward any relevant or necessary technical training that is deemed required by staff.

Interested parties must contact Pierre by 5pm on Monday, December 1st with a letter of interest outlining their relevant skills, experience and a schedule of availability for the month of December. Drop off a letter in person or email it to pierre@ckdu.ca. As this is a contract position and not a staff position at the station, candidates will not be contacted for interviews. Only the successful candidate will be contacted with the offer of contract.

This position will involve a signing a contract written and approved by staff, outlining all terms (confidentiality, key sign out, tasks, etc.).

Interim Station Coordinator Contract


This contract is only available to CKDU members and has compensation of $750. This is to cover a 4 week leave of absence being taken by the Station Coordinator from January 5th to 30th. The contract requires the following:

Committing to 15 hrs per week of office hours that includes such duties as answering the phones, supporting volunteers, checking and responding to CKDU emails, checking phone messages, and other administrative tasks
Give a weekly Volunteer Orientation training
Work with and support the rest of the staff collective

Those interested in undertaking this position must:

be a fully trained, active member of CKDU with an up-to-date membership
have technical prowess and knowledge of the equipment & computer system
have an understanding of all of CKDU's rules, regulations and policy
have some background in volunteer coordination and community work
Be available for 2-3 days of training during the week of December 8-12
