CKDU-FM is the non-profit campus-based community radio station in Halifax, Nova Scotia. CKDU is mandated to provide an alternative to private and public broadcasters, providing a forum for diverse and under-represented voices, music and news. The station broadcasts within the HRM 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and is run by more than 200 volunteers.
Nature of the Job:
The Station Coordinator is responsible for the administrative and financial management of the station. This includes developing and administering budgets, overseeing and monitoring fundraising, communicating with the CKDU Board of Directors, the Dalhousie Student Union and external organizations like the CRTC. The station coordinator works as a member of the the non-hierarchical staff collective, with a variety of station committees and with volunteers on station projects.
The Station Coordinator must have financial management and administrative skills, a strong understanding of campus/community radio and familiarity with CRTC programming requirements. Experience with community organizations, issues of inclusion and a demonstrated ability to work with volunteers are required. The Coordinator must be supportive of a wide variety of cultural and musical expressions and must have strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational ability and interpersonal skills.
This is a full-time 32 hour per week position at $15.75 per hour.
