"Opening Eyes and Ears "
As a recent immigrant from Zimbabwe, Mufaro Chakabuda met only closed doors when she tried to get funding for an African dance centre. No one had even heard of African dance, she says. So with $20 dollars in her pocket, she built an internationally-renowned business on her own. Now, she has a book out with advice for those who want to follow in her footsteps.
Philosophy Professor Elizabete Pinheiro felt she had so much more to offer, but no one wanted to know about it. After two years years temping in daycares and grocery stores, she decided to speak up. She was surprised to find that people listened.
